Congressman Reschenthaler's Statement on President Trump’s State of the Union

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Reschenthaler released the following statement on President Trump's State of the Union address:

"Tonight, President Trump laid out an inspiring vision of American exceptionalism. I support President Trump's challenge to Congress to cast aside partisan, political pandering and get to work for the American people. I am ready to work across the aisle on common sense, bipartisan solutions to reform our broken immigration system, protect American workers, rebuild America, and lower the cost of prescription drugs.

"Our booming economy continues to grow, adding 304,000 jobs last month. By promoting pro-growth economic policies that create new jobs, we can make it possible for more households across the country to support their families and make ends meet.

"In addition, it is essential that we address the humanitarian crisis on the southern border to stop human trafficking and keep criminals and drugs from entering our country. Nancy Pelosi must negotiate so we can prevent another government shutdown and provide essential border security funding. President Trump should not have to declare a state of emergency to protect our border. Americans expect us to work together to find to a solution.

"On issues such as infrastructure and lowering prescription drug prices, there is room for both sides to come together to confront these challenges. I look forward to working with President Trump and my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to find common sense solutions that will benefit every American and keep our country safe."
