Reschenthaler Announces Federal Funding to Expand COVID-19 Testing in Southwestern Pennsylvania
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Guy Reschenthaler (PA-14) announced community health centers in his district will receive $1,258,767 to expand capacity for coronavirus testing through the Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act, signed into law by President Donald Trump on April 24. Centerville Clinic will receive $705,589, Cornerstone Care will receive $403,549, and Community Health Clinic will receive $149,629.
"I'm grateful the Trump Administration is working quickly to distribute vital funding to our communities to combat the COVID-19 outbreak," said Reschenthaler. "Widespread testing for COVID-19 is critical to reopening Pennsylvania and getting people back to work. To date, our nation's health centers have received nearly $2 billion to address the coronavirus, and I will continue fighting to ensure they have the resources they need to keep our communities safe and healthy. "
Over $500 million for testing was awarded to health centers across the nation under the Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act. Health care providers can use this funding to expand the range of testing and testing-related activities, including the purchase of personal protective equipment, training for staff, procurement and administration of tests, laboratory services, and contact tracing. Health centers are currently providing more than 100,000 weekly COVID-19 tests in their local communities. More than 8.1 million tests have been performed in the United States so far.
