Reschenthaler Applauds House Passage of Parents Bill of Rights

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Chief Deputy Whip Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA) released the following statement after voting in support of H.R. 5, the Parents Bill of Rights Act:

“As the son of former teachers, I understand the critical role parents play in their child’s education,” said Reschenthaler. “Sadly, over the past few years, parents across America were turned away from school meetings and labeled domestic terrorists for voicing concerns about what their child was being taught. Parents – not progressive school boards with political agendas – should always have the final say in their child’s curriculum. I am proud the House passed the Parents Bill of Rights Act, legislation I cosponsored. This bill will protect parents right to know what their children are being taught, their right to be heard, their right to see school budgets and spending, their right to protect their child’s privacy, and their right to keep their children safe. This bill will empower parents, hold schools accountable, and set children up for success.”

The Parents Bill of Rights is centered around five principles:

  1. Parents have the right to know what their children are being taught.

  1. Parents have the right to be heard.

  1. Parents have the right to see the school budget and spending.

  1. Parents have the right to protect their child’s privacy.

  1. Parents have the right to keep their children safe.
