Reschenthaler Helps Secure Federal Grants for Local Fire Companies
WASHINGTON, PA – Today, Congressman Guy Reschenthaler (PA-14) announced the following fire companies received a total of $1,372,034.65 through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) program:
- Arnold Volunteer Engine Company II
- Gallatin Sunnyside Volunteer Fire Department
- New Eagle Volunteer Fire Company
- Westmoreland City Volunteer Fire Department and Relief Association
"Our brave firefighters put themselves at risk every day to keep our communities safe," Reschenthaler said. "I am pleased that these fire departments in southwestern Pennsylvania will receive the resources they need to protect our community. I am proud to support funding and fire departments throughout the 14th District, and will continue to ensure they have the personnel, equipment, and training needed to do their jobs as safely as possible."
The primary goal of the AFG program is to meet the firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments and non-affiliated emergency medical service organizations. Since 2001, the AFG program has helped firefighters and other first responders to obtain critically needed equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles, training, and other resources necessary to protect the public and emergency personnel from fire and related hazards.
