WASHINGTON, PA – Today, Congressman Guy Reschenthaler (PA-14) announced four more fire departments and two EMS services in the 14th district received a total of $1,217,343.87 through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) program.

The companies receiving these grants include:

Sutersville Volunteer Fire Company

Connellsville Twp. Volunteer Fire Department

Claridge Volunteer Fire Department

Jeannette EMS Inc

Washington Twp. Volunteer Fire Department

Murrysville Medic One Inc.

"Our brave frontline workers in our local fire companies have been at the forefront of protecting our community during COVID-19. I am glad to see proper funding going to these organizations so that they are prepared for whatever comes their way. Reschenthaler said. "I am proud to help secure this crucial funding that tops one million dollars for six of our district's fire companies and EMS services. This is the sixth round of funding for fire companies in our district through the AFG program and I look forward to securing more funding for these brave men and women."

The primary goal of the AFG program is to meet the firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments and non-affiliated emergency medical service organizations. Since 2001, the AFG program has helped firefighters and other first responders to obtain critically needed equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles, training, and other resources necessary to protect the public and emergency personnel from fire and related hazards.

Reschenthaler helped secure five other rounds of grants bringing the total to $3,460,295.05 in funding from the AFG grants for departments that serve the 14th Congressional District.
