Reschenthaler Statement on Local Pennsylvanian's Release from Turks and Caicos

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Chief Deputy Whip Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA) released the following statement following Pennsylvanian Bryan Hagerich’s release from Turks and Caicos:

 

“While I am overjoyed to see Bryan Hagerich will be returning to Pennsylvania and reuniting with his wife and two children, this terrifying situation should have never happened to him, or the four other Americans still awaiting sentencing,” said Reschenthaler. “As the Turks and Caicos government works to handle future cases, the British territory must ensure the safety and wellbeing of U.S. tourists. I won’t rest until Americans can once again set foot on their islands without putting their livelihoods at risk.”

 

 

Bryan Hagerich is a constituent of Reschenthaler from Somerset County, Pennsylvania. On February 13, 2024, he was arrested leaving a family vacation in Turks and Caicos for inadvertently having hunting rifle ammunition in his checked luggage. He is a husband and father of two young children with no prior criminal history. On May 24, 2024, Hagerich was given a sentence of 52 months, suspended, a $6700 fine, and released.
