Reschenthaler’s Statement on Opposing Democrats’ Blank Check, Standing with Israel

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Guy Reschenthaler (PA-14) released the following statement on his vote against H.R. 5304, which provides Democrats with a blank check for trillions of dollars in new socialist spending. This legislation includes a suspension of the debt ceiling through December 16th, 2022, allowing President Biden and Congressional Democrats to continue their reckless spending for the remainder of this Congress. Additionally, Democrat leadership removed funding for Israel's Iron Dome missile defense system, which has saved countless innocent lives from terrorist rocket attacks.

"On the very same day President Biden tried to reassure our nation's allies that, despite his disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal, they can still count on American support, Speaker Pelosi abandoned Israel by pulling funding for the Iron Dome missile defense system, all to appease her anti-Semitic, far-left members. Pelosi's actions make it clear – the progressive wing runs the Democrat party. In stark contrast, House Republicans stand with Israel and support its right to self-defense.

"Further, instead of working with Republicans to produce a bipartisan bill to fund the federal government, provide disaster relief to Americans impacted by recent storms, and aid our Afghan allies, Pelosi chose to play political games by attaching a debt limit suspension that provides Democrats with a blank check for trillions of dollars in new, reckless socialist spending. This legislation has no chance of passing the Senate or becoming law. Democrats are wasting time by capitulating to the far left, and their actions will only hurt American families and our allies."
