Reschenthaler’s Statement on President Biden’s Inauguration

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Guy Reschenthaler (PA-14) released the following statement on the inauguration of President Joe Biden:

"Today, I was honored to attend our nation's 59th inauguration and witness another peaceful transfer of power as President Biden and Vice President Harris were sworn into office. I congratulate President Biden and Vice President Harris on this historic occasion, and I pray for the success of our country.

"Our nation is facing generational challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the rising threat from China, and I encourage the new administration to pick up where President Trump left off to carry on the legacy of American exceptionalism.

"Under President Trump's leadership, families, workers, and businesses in southwestern Pennsylvania saw tremendous economic opportunity. The Trump Administration fought to ensure Americans could keep more of their hard-earned money, put workers first with better trade deals, and invested in national security and securing our borders. The Biden Administration would be wise to build upon these efforts that strengthened America and our position on the global stage.

"I pledge to work with the Biden Administration when it advances America's interests, but I will vigorously oppose this administration if they threaten our values, our jobs, and our way of life.

"As we begin a new presidential era, I will continue to fight for southwestern Pennsylvanians, and I hope the new administration will join me in ensuring prosperity and a secure America for all."
