Reschenthaler’s Statement on Vote to Provide Resources for the Humanitarian Crisis at our Southern Border

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Guy Reschenthaler (PA-14) released the following statement regarding his vote in support of the Senate's version of H.R. 3401, legislation which will provide the resources the Trump Administration needs to address the crisis at our southern border:

"After Tuesday's partisan showmanship, I am glad Speaker Pelosi finally stopped catering to her radical left and instead brought the bipartisan Senate border bill to the House floor for a vote. For nearly two months, Democrats sat on their hands and refused to fulfill President Trump's request for additional resources to address the influx of children and families crossing our southern border. During that time, the situation only grew worse, and Democrats have no one to blame but themselves.

"The bill the House passed today provides Customs and Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement with the funding, resources, and flexibility they need to address the urgent humanitarian crisis along the southern border. H.R. 3401 has already passed the Senate by an overwhelmingly bipartisan vote of 84 to 8, and now heads to the president so it can be swiftly signed into law.

"Now that this funding has been secured, I call on the House to address the loopholes in our immigration laws that incentivized these individuals to come to the U.S. in the first place. We cannot continue to allow smugglers and traffickers to take advantage of our generosity. Otherwise, we will be facing this same situation in the not too distant future."
