Reschenthaler Opposes Democrats’ Reckless Tax-and-Spend Agenda

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Guy Reschenthaler (PA-14) released the following statement after voting against the Senate Amendment to H.R. 5376, Democrat’s disastrous Inflation and Recession Act:

“I was proud to speak in opposition to and vote against the reckless tax-and-spend bill passed by House Democrats today. This multi-billion-dollar spending package won't bring down record-high inflation, secure our southern border, or make our communities safer.

“Instead, Democrats’ radical bill will dramatically increase taxes on American families and job creators while wealthy, coastal elites receive $7,500 to buy electric vehicles. This legislation is stuffed full of socialist handouts, including more than $400 billion for radical Green New Deal policies, while everyday Americans will be forced to pay more at the pump thanks to $12 billion in taxes on American energy producers.

“Alarmingly, Democrats provide an $80 billion check to the IRS for 87,000 new agents to allegedly audit 700 billionaires. The IRS does not need an additional 87,000 agents to audit the rich – they need 87,000 new agents to harass the working class and pay for their far-left handouts.

“This isn’t an Inflation Reduction Act – it’s an Inflation and Recession Act. America deserves better.”
