Reschenthaler Sworn In As Member of 117th Congress
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Guy Reschenthaler (PA-14) was formally sworn in today as a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives for the 117th Congress. Reschenthaler will serve a second term representing the citizens of the 14th Congressional District of Pennsylvania, which includes Washington, Fayette, Greene, and portions of Westmoreland Counties.
"Today I was honored to take the oath of office to continue representing our southwestern Pennsylvania values in Congress," said Reschenthaler. "Over the next two years, I will stand with my new and returning Republican colleagues to fight for freedom, defend our Constitution, and build a future of prosperity, security, and opportunity for all Americans."
In addition to the oath of office, Congress voted to elect the Speaker of the House for the 117th Congress. Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi narrowly secured the position with 216 votes, after going so far as to allow members subject to COVID-19 quarantine restrictions to vote in person in the House chamber. Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy received 209 votes.
"I am deeply disappointed that my Democrat colleagues continue to support the failed leadership of Nancy Pelosi. I strongly oppose her partisan antics, including holding COVID-19 relief hostage for months and recklessly permitting members subject to quarantine to endanger their colleagues and vote, just so she could hold onto power. I will continue to stand against progressive Democrats' radical socialist agenda in the 117th Congress."
