Reschenthaler Votes No on Democrats’ Socialist Spending Scam
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Guy Reschenthaler (PA-14) released the following statement on his vote opposing President Biden and Democrats' Socialist Spending Scam:
"The American people are experiencing the highest inflation in over 30 years, and it is a direct result of President Biden and Congressional Democrats' reckless socialist spending spree. Biden and Democrats' willingness to add an additional $800 billion to the national debt over the next five years is irresponsible. This is money we do not have, for policies Americans do not want.
"Democrats should focus on addressing the real economic crises facing American families and workers like record-high energy prices, supply chain shortages, and deteriorating consumer confidence. Instead, they are extending tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires, significantly increasing the cost of heating our homes this winter, and rewarding illegal immigrants with amnesty and over $45,000 taxpayer-funded benefits. If Biden and Democrats get their way, average Americans will be stuck paying significantly more in taxes and inflation while blue state millionaires and billionaires receive tax cuts and subsidies for electric vehicles."
Specifically, the bill would:
- Impose a natural gas tax that will increase home heating costs and electricity rates and raise gas prices.
- Provide a $25,900 tax break and subsidies to purchase homes and electric vehicles for millionaires and billionaires in blue states like New York, New Jersey, and California.
- According to the left-leaning Tax Policy Center, this bill will raise taxes on middle-class Americans by 30%.
- Make illegal immigrants eligible for $45,000 a year in government benefits.
- Hire 87,000 new agents to spy on the bank accounts of every American, more than doubling the chance of being audited.
- Nearly half of audits will be on Americans making up to $75,000 a year.
