Project Name: Life-Flight Base Station and Helipad

Project Description: The funding will support the construction of a 2,000-square-foot base station alongside an adjacent helipad on the rooftop of a new hospital. The base station will feature essential support spaces, including crew rest quarters, a kitchenette, and storage facilities, to facilitate quick and efficient life-flight operations. This project is a valuable use of taxpayer funds because it will provide quicker and more efficient life-flight services to underserved and remote areas of southwestern Pennsylvania.

Project Description: The funding will be used to upgrade the outdated and ineffective equipment used by law enforcement officials in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. Specifically, the funds will be used to purchase mobile laptop computers and accessories, televisions, license plate readers, and computer forensic task force equipment. This project is a valuable use of taxpayer funds because it will modernize critical technologies needed to streamline the criminal court process, achieve justice, preserve the rights of victims, and protect the citizens of Westmoreland County.

Project Description: The Drinking Water SRF project will replace a section of the main transmission line that is deteriorating. Specifically, the project will install approximately 5,280’of 30” ductile iron and PVC pipe. This is a valuable use of taxpayer dollars because the project will support deteriorating infrastructure, ensuring the main transmission line continues to provide clean, reliable drinking water to 225,000 people in the local community.
Project Name: Sewage Treatment Plant Update

Project Description: The Clean Water SRF project will expand the sewage treatment plant to reduce sewage discharge, enhance water treatment, minimize combined sewer overflows, and increase nutrient reduction. This is a valuable use of taxpayer dollars because it will improve clean water treatment for a rural community in southwestern Pennsylvania.
Project Name: North Fayette County Municipal Authority Route 51 Water Main Replacement Project

Project Description: The Drinking Water SRF project will replace 39,000 square feet of 2 to 12-inch cast iron pipe and ductile iron pipe with new polyvinyl chlorinated pipe. This is a valuable use of taxpayer dollars because the project will support updating aging infrastructure to provide enhanced water quality, improved reliability, and provide long-term benefits to a rural community.
Project Name: West Greene Waterline Extension

Funding Requested: $5,000,000
Project Description: The Drinking Water SRF project will extend the Southwestern Pennsylvania Water Authority’s main water line, approximately 31,000 square feet, to the Jackson Township Municipal Building and ensure that residents and businesses have access to reliable potable water and fire suppression capability. This project also includes 31 fire hydrants, 34 service connections, and 12 (16”) gate valves. This is a valuable use of taxpayer dollars because it will provide clean drinking water and fire suppression for rural communities in southwestern Pennsylvania.
Project Name: Somerset County Food Access Project
Recipient: Somerset County Mobile Food Bank

Funding Requested: $300,000
Project Description: This funding will support the purchase of additional food supplies, walk-in cooler panels, a new cooler compression unit, and box packaging to allow for pick-up or delivery. Additional funding supports the purchase of a new refrigeration unit for the trailer and loading dock improvements at the facility, and the purchase of a refrigerated box truck. This is a valuable use of taxpayer funds because it will help address food insecurity in a rural county in southwestern Pennsylvania.

The facility will store and organize both hazardous materials and emergency response equipment. This is a valuable use of taxpayer funds because it will result in quicker emergency response times, improved operational safety for responders, new business opportunities, and a more resilient infrastructure in the county.
